Amedi is a historical city in South Kurdistan, located 90 km east of Duhok Governorate, situated on a rocky mountain that gives nature a very attractive view [1], the region witnessed throughout the history of the liberation revolution many epics and heroism of the Peshmerga Forces during the September and Gulan revolutions [2] and this indicates that the people of Amedi and the surrounding areas, like all other areas of Kurdistan, are yearning for freedom and rejecting dictatorial rule.

Throughout the battles and guerrilla warfare activities of the Peshmerga Forces belonging to the Amedi Local Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to defend the rights of the people of Kurdistan, in addition to letting the Ba'ath officials know that the revolution continues its activities and will not hesitate to achieve those rights.

For this purpose, the Peshmerga Forces planned to target a number of sites and bases of the mercenaries belonging to the Ba'ath regime in the region. On 8 October 1985, they attacked a number of mercenary sites, and the Peshmerga Forces in this attack controlled three sites of these forces and inflicted heavy damage on them, along with capturing a number of them and obtaining weapons and equipment. This was reflected in the letter of the Amedi Local Committee to the leadership of the revolution, in which it informed them of all the information and the control of the mercenary sites [3].

And within the framework of the same operation, the Peshmerga Forces controlled three other sites of the mercenary gunmen belonging to the Ba'ath government in the region, including gunmen belonging to (Chia Diwali Doski), and left the bodies of three mercenaries on the battlefield and three other fighters were captured, and the Peshmerga Forces seized in that series of battles (5) Kalashnikov weapons and two wireless devices, with a Dektaryov machine gun.

One of the Peshmerga was martyred, namely (Muslih Nimat Ghazi), who belonged to the Martyr Shaban Ghafar organization, in the Peshmerga attack on the bases and sites of the armed forces belonging to the Ba'ath government, and another Peshmerga element was wounded. It is mentioned that a journalist, (Gain Robert), participated side by side with the Peshmerga, where he recorded the scenes of the battle with a cinematic video camera.

The victory of the Peshmerga Forces in this attack created an echo and an impact on harassing the government forces, such that it made the revolution leadership enter the line and send a congratulatory message to the Peshmerga Forces.
