Biography

Ali Hamdi Musa Abbas, also known as Ali Bedohi, was born in 1918 in the province of Duhok. In 1940, he began working at the Baghdad Cadaster Office and was later transferred to the Kfri Cadaster Office in 1953. That same year, he was appointed as the director of the cadaster in Kfri, located in the Kirkuk province. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1966 under impoverished circumstances. He possessed fluency in both Kurdish and Arabic languages.

Service Record

Ali Hamdi Musa Abbas made significant contributions to the Kurdish magazine Hawar, which was published in Damascus. In 1939, he became a member of the Kurdish Hiwa Party. During the Rashid Ali Geylani movement in 1941, he lent his support and subsequently faced imprisonment for a year following its failure. In 1944, he assumed leadership of the Baghdad regional committee of the Kurdish Hope Party. In August of the same year, he made an attempt to secure the release of Nuruddin Zaza, a prominent Kurdish activist, from Baghdad prison. In 1945, he represented the first clandestine congress of the Kurdish Liberation Party, which was held discreetly at his residence in Baghdad. Additionally, he facilitated the secret publication of the Kurdish Liberation Party's newspaper, Rzgari, from his house. He held a position as a cadre within the Kurdish Liberation Party in 1945. In 1946, he attended the second congress of the Kurdish Liberation Party in Baghdad as a delegate, with the intention of dissolving the party and merging it with the Kurdish Democratic Party. Subsequently, he joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in 1946 and participated as a delegate in the first congress of the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) in Baghdad. From 1946 to 1949, he served as the head of the Baghdad Regional Committee of the Kurdish Democratic Party. In 1951, he attended the second congress of the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) in Baghdad as a delegate. From 1951 to 1952, he assumed responsibility for the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) printing house in Kirkuk, which was clandestinely located within his residence. In 1953, he became the inaugural head of the committee for the Kafr region within the third branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). The same year, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) during its Third Congress. He also oversaw the organizational activities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Kafrin, Khanaqin, Khurmatu, Jalalabad, and Kalar within the Kirkuk and Diyala provinces. In 1959, he attended the fourth congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Baghdad as a delegate. In 1960, he was elected as a delegate to the fifth congress in Kfri. On December 8, 1960, he secured his position as a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). During the same year, he assumed responsibility for the Kafrin regional committee of the KDP. In early 1960, he was relocated from Kafr to the Shatra village in Nasiriyah province, located in southern Iraq. As the September Revolution commenced in 1961, he was appointed as the head of the first branch of the KDP. In the same year, he played a role in clandestinely organizing the party in Erbil. Despite being ordered to move to Shatra town in Nasiriyah province, he defied the command and was subsequently arrested by the police. However, with the assistance of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) organizations, he managed to escape from prison and seek refuge in the liberated areas. In 1961, he joined the ranks of the Peshmerga forces and actively participated in a significant gathering of Audalan, where he voted in favor of defense and revolution. In 1963, he was appointed as the head of the fourth branch of the KDP. On February 14, 1964, he represented the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the fourth congress of the Kurdistan Students Union, assuming the role of supervisor and operating under the pseudonym Mardan. He once again joined the Peshmerga forces in 1964. However, his support for the decisions made in the Mawat broad meeting at the sixth congress led to his expulsion from the ranks of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) that same year. Subsequently, in Kani Masi village of Sulaimani province, he was apprehended by the Peshmerga forces on charges of aiding Lieutenant Aziz Abdullah Abdulqadir (1919-1999), also known as Dr. Aziz Shamzini, and supporting the wing of the Political Bureau. As a result, he was prohibited from corresponding with opponents of the September Revolution.
