Anwar Sheikh Muhammad Tahir, son of Mullah Abdulrahman Mayi, known as Anwar Mayi, a great poet, historian, journalist, and politician, went secretly to the Doski region in the year 1946 to establish a relationship with the immortal Barzani. In the year 1941, through his friend Rashid Ali al-Gaylani, he became an employee at the (Supply) Directorate in Amadiya. After being transferred to the (Supply) Directorate in Sheikhan in the year 1945, he left that place after being notified that he would be arrested due to his secret relationship with Mullah Mustafa Barzani , he was martyred on the evening of Saturday, June 22, 1963, in Spne.

Biography

Martyr Anwar Sheikh Muhammad Tahir, son of Mullah Abdulrahman Mayi, was born in the year 1913 in the village of Maye in the Barwari region, affiliated with the Amadiya district. He came from a patriotic, religious, and pious Kurdish family that followed the Naqshbandi path. He was three years old when his father passed away. His mother, Halima, daughter of Sayyid Salih Chamsayidi, raised him and sent him to Bamerne for primary education. In the year 1936, he obtained the requirements for receiving a scientific certificate in the field of religious sciences at the hands of Shukri Effendi, the Mufti of Amadiya. In the year 1938, he passed the (Ministry of Education) examination to become an Arabic language teacher, for which more than a hundred people had participated, but only three were selected. In the year 1939, he became a teacher in the village of Lisherwana al-Mazn, affiliated with the Mergasor sub-district, then went to the village of Barzan in the years (1940-1941). In the year 1941, through his friend Rashid Ali al-Gaylani, he became an employee at the (Supply) Directorate in Amadiya. After being transferred to the (Supply) Directorate in Sheikhan in the year 1945, he left that place after being notified that he would be arrested due to his secret relationship with Mullah Mustafa Barzani. In the year 1958, he was elected to the first committee of the Iraqi Writers Union and became one of the members of the Journalists Syndicate.. He was martyred on June 22, 1963, in Spne..

Record of Struggle

 Martyr Anwar Mayi was an active member of the (Hiwa) Party, and before that, he had a relationship with the (Independence - Khoyboun) association in the years (1927-1932), in addition to a good relationship with the Bedirkhan family. In the year 1946, he went secretly to the Doski region to establish a relationship with the immortal Barzani in Iran, but he was arrested there and remained in Mosul prison until the year 1948. In the year 1958, after the (July Revolution), as a delegate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party , he went with a delegation to see Abdul Karim Qasim. In the year 1959, an Iraqi delegation was selected consisting of four people, and Martyr Anwar Mayi was one of them. He visited China and then the Soviet Union, and there is a photograph of him in Kurdish attire with the then-president Mao Zedong. 

In the year 1961, by the order of the immortal Barzani, he headed to the war in Khanaqin, and after a year, he was transferred by the immortal Barzani to assist Asaad Khoshevi in the Badinan region..
