After the Republic of Kurdistan suffers a setback and the Barzani forces, led by Mullah Mustafa Barzani, decide to return to their homeland once again. On the way back, they encounter a number of battles and clashes with the forces of the Iranian army and the Kurdish and Turkish tribes supporting the government. As a result of those battles and resistance, a number of Barzanis are martyred and wounded, and on the other hand, they are able to inflict heavy losses on the Iranian force. After the decision to fight the Barzanis was issued, the Iranian army was able to occupy the heights of Khan Taus Castle on March 15, 1947, by taking advantage of the Qarapapakh infantry force and the soldiers of the Kermanshah force without fighting. This occupation leads to the Iranian army taking advantage of the importance of that location, and at 11:00 AM, with the help of artillery, the Wezne region is also occupied by the Iranian army.

At that time, a number of Barzani forces who were in the Derbendi Sheytan Abad reach that place and head from the Wezne heights towards Khan Taus Castle. There, they attack the Iranian force and the Turks of the Qarapapakh tribe, defeat them, and are able to kill and wound several of them, one of whom was an Iranian force commander named Timuri. However, despite all the bravery that the Barzani force showed in that battle, because the reinforcement force consisted of the 3rd Platoon of the Kabir Battalion commanded by First Lieutenant Nasiri Pour for the Iranian soldiers, it reaches Wezne and Khan Taus Castle. Also, due to the shelling that was carried out by the Iranian army on the Barzani force, those fighters retreat to the heights of Pirnasir and the village of Derbend to protect their lives. Also, Chwarbot Castle falls into the hands of those tribes that were helping the government force.

In the continuation of that battle, which continued in several areas, part of the Iranian force led by Colonel Ansari attacks the village of Qelatan. In that battle, the Iranian force shells the area, and as a result of that bombardment, Sultan Agha, the brother of Hamad Agha of Mergasor, is martyred. With the occupation of that area, a great danger is created for Shno and the villages of the Shno plain where the Barzanis were.
